Tea Recipes: Simple, Healthy, and Hydrating

At Spartan, we take tea seriously. We even have our own. Why? First of all, it’s far better for you than caffeine, which is also a known dehydrator. Second, tea is delicious. Here are some of our favorite tea recipes. 

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Makes 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed green tea, chilled
  • 1 cup milk of your choice
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 cup fresh spinach leaves (loosely packed)
  • 2 cup strawberries
  • 2 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • Ice as desired

Directions

  1. Prepare green tea by bringing one cup hot water to a boil or heating in a microwave. Remove water from boil and pour in a cup over tea bag. Steep for 3-5 minutes. Allow to cool and chill in the refrigerator.
  2. Combine milk, banana, spinach, strawberries, protein powder and chilled tea in a blender and blend for 60 seconds.
  3. Tip: Make an entire pitcher of green tea and keep in the refrigerator for 5-7 days. You can use this tea for multiple recipes, or just enjoy as green sweet tea by adding a dash of honey.

Oat Berry Blended Smoothie

Makes 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed green tea, chilled
  • 1 Tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 2 Tbsp oats
  • 1 ½ cups frozen mixed berries
  • ½ cup vanilla Greek yogurt (We recommend Powerful Plain Greek Yogurt)
  • Honey to taste
  • Additional water until desired thickness is reached

Directions

  1. Prepare green tea by bringing one cup hot water to a boil or heating in a microwave. Remove water from boil and pour in a cup over tea bag. Steep for 3-5 minutes. Allow to cool and chill in the refrigerator.
  2. Combine flaxseed, oats, mixed berries, Greek yogurt, and chilled tea in a blender and blend for 60 seconds. Add honey and additional water as desired for sweetness and desired thickness.

Mango Madness Smoothie

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • ½ cup brewed green tea, chilled
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 cup mango (peeled, diced)
  • Dash of cinnamon and nutmeg
  • Ice cubes

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend for 60 seconds. Add additional liquid until you reach desired consistency.

Mojito Morning Tea

Makes 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups brewed tea of your choice
  • 6 sprigs fresh basil leaves
  • ½ cup lime juice
  • 4 cups chilled seltzer

Directions

  1. Prepare tea by bringing water to a boil. Remove water from boil and add tea bags directly to the pot. Steep for 3-5 minutes. Allow to cool and chill in the refrigerator.
  2. Combine chilled tea with basil leaves, lime, and seltzer water and enjoy.

Tip: Add sliced lime and lemon for even more flavor.

Traditional Spartan Tea

  1. Place a small handful of Spartan Tea (approx 3g) with 12 oz of water in a pot and cover.
  2. Bring to Simmering boil on stove top for about 3-5 minutes to maximize the flavor and health benefits
  3. Remove from heat and let it steep for an additional 3-5 minutes
  4. Strain the herbs and enjoy.
  5. If you like a little sweetness, add a little honey (we like Manuka) and Enjoy!

Muddled Mint Spartan Tea

Prepare Iced Spartan Tea as directed above In a glass or tumbler muddle some Fresh Mint Add ice, and pour over the Spartan Tea for a refreshing cool twist to your Spartan Tea.

Tip: Spartan Tea pairs well with peppermint teach and chamomile.
