Makes 4 servings
This recipe puts great use to the pulp created from your juicing recipe. A non-fruit pulp helps keep a savory flavor to your plant-based protein burger.
Ingredients
½ cup bread crumbs
2 cups black beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup pulp from Fruit Free Celery Juice (recipe above)
1 small onion, minced
3 Tbsp coconut oil, divided
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tsp chili powder
½ tsp oregano
¼ tsp cumin
Directions
- Place black beans in a large bowl. Using a potato masher, mash beans until mostly mashed, add bread crumbs and mix well.
- Add the rest of the ingredients, except for 2 Tbsp of coconut oil. Mix well to combine. Add a dash of water as needed if burgers do not hold together well.
- Form into 4 patties and place on a large plate or baking sheet and store in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. This will help the ingredients stick together during cooking.
- Using either a griddle or large frying pan, heat 2 Tbsp of coconut oil over medium heat. Cook burgers until the center is hot (about 4 minutes each side).
